Natalie’s Story | Because Sometimes We Need To Remember Redemption’s Hope

This today, because a few of us have had the wind knocked clean out of us this week when it comes to motherhood. Seeing that child hurt, watching them make choices, knowing that life is full of transitions. Next stages. So much this month, new seasons, graduations, end-of-school events. Calendars full and hearts filled with wonderings of how this whole things might be working itself out…

All of it causing us to spin, just a bit.

How do we parent through the transitions…through the pain? Because that love we each feel, that love you know to the depths of your soul towards that child…it’s unmatched. There is nothing else that feels the same, nothing else that strikes that chord so deeply inside of you.

You want to protect…you want to shelter. You give advice, medicine, inhalers, Friday night pizza parties, cold cups of water, and a zillion hugs.

But how do we pause long enough to remember…to remember that we too need to be held. Our hearts in such desperate need to know the Love that meets us right where we’re at…right in the middle of the mess of it all. A Love that is relentless and unmatched, and unfulfilled by any other wannabe substitute there is.

How do we pause long enough to remember…to remember that through all those transitions, when that wind gets clean knocked out of us…He is with us.

When that season is coming to an end… He is with us.

When there is sweet laughter throughout your four walls and eye rolls and inside jokes only caught by those who know the whole story… He is with us.

Through those unexpected phone calls received in unlikely places…He is with us.

He is with us.

Today, I bring you Natalie’s story. If you were with us at The Madness of Motherhood event last month, you met Natalie and heard her story of profound loss, beautiful redemption and life-giving hope.

To view the video, watch it here. For even more of Natalie’s story, you can listen to the full podcast she did with my friend Lisa Williams here.

Maybe you know someone who is hurting and needs redemption’s reminder. Maybe you know someone who could use a cold cup of water to ease their weary soul…maybe that’s you.

These words for you today…He is with you.

I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden wealth of secret places,
So that you may know that it is I,
The Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.
Isaiah 45:3
